With the announcement of a friendly with Hertha Berlin in the Olympic Stadium on July 22nd, Liverpool’s pre-season preparations are finally beginning to take shape. LFC have now officially confirmed six fixtures, see below for more…
Liverpool’s pre-season plans are yet to be announced in full but it seems any pre-season tours will not take place this summer.
The Reds will be heading to Switzerland for their annual pre-season camp, where they will play two friendlies again.
The friendly which has been confirmed by LFC is against Villareal in Spain, as part of the deal which saw Pepe Reina join the club in 2005. The date is now be confirmed as Wednesday July 30th.
The proposed friendly with Glasgow Rangers was confirmed by LFC on their official website and indeed the LFC magazine, but has recently not been noted in their confirmed dates on the official website so speculation continues about the confirmation of that match. Update: LFC have now announced it as August 2nd, changing the date from July 26th.
A friendly with Valerenga in Oslo has been confirmed by the Norweigan club, and by Jamie Carragher in an interview with Oslo TV, for August 5th.
A home match with Atletico Madrid was reported by the Liverpool Echo and could take place on August 5th, which would be the first pre-season friendly at Anfield since 2003.
The new season begins on 16th August, fixtures are announced June 16th, while Champions League qualifiers will take place either side of that on 12/13th August and 26/27th August.
