Next Up: Spurs (League Cup)

Liverpool return to White Hart Lane less than two weeks after suffering their first defeat of the season at the hands of Tottenham.

This time it’s a league cup encounter and Rafa Benitez’s team is likely to be vastly different from the one which suffered a 2-1 defeat a week last Saturday.

Goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri will replace Pepe Reina, Sami Hyypia is likely to start, right backs Philipp Degen and Stephen Darby are fighting for a chance to replace Alvaro Arbeloa who is suspended for the trip to Bolton next weekend. Emiliano Insua is likely to start at left back.

In midfield, Lucas, Nabil El Zhar and Jermaine Pennant will all hope to feature, while Ryan Babel and David Ngog will also have an eye on a starting berth.

Benitez may opt to give Fernando Torres more playing time in order to achieve match fitness.
