Next Up: Chelsea, CL Quarter Final, 2nd Leg

Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge for Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter final, second leg, knowing goals are need to overcome the Blues after a 3-1 defeat in the first leg.

Having taken the lead early on through Fernando Torres, Rafa Benitez’s side conceded twice from Ivanovic header’s at corners, and Didier Drogba’s third gives them a mountain to climb.

Liverpool must score three goals, if they concede one in doing so, it will go to extra time. A 2-0 win will see the Reds defeated on away goals.

Benitez’s side will be buoyed by their own performance against Blackburn on Saturday, where they scored four goals, and Bolton’s almost incredible comeback at Stamford Bridge, where they scored three goals late-on after being four behind.

Chelsea are without captain John Terry after he received his second booking in the first leg, while Liverpool could be without their captain Steven Gerrard who is struggling with an injury which saw him an unused substitute on Saturday.

Benitez will welcome Javier Mascherano back to midfield from the first leg, replacing Lucas alongside Alonso, while the rest of the side is expected to be as you would expect. If Gerrard isn’t passed fit, Yossi Benayoun is likely to continue in his place.

The winner of this quarter final will almost certainly face Barcelona in the semi-final after they beat Bayern Munich 4-0 in the first leg at the Nou Camp.

The match is live on ITV (UK), kick off 7:45pm (BST).
