Line-up vs Thailand: Alonso not in squad

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is not named in either the starting line-up or on the subs bench for this afternoon’s pre-season friendly against Thailand in Bangkok.

Rumours today suggest Alonso has withdrawn from the match the persue a move to Real Madrid, which could be completed this week.

However, Daniel Agger has recovered from a back injury to partner Jamie Carragher in central defence and Dutch wingers Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt start.

Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Albert Riera and Alvaro Arbeloa stand in line to make their first appearances of the pre-season preparations after returning to training on Sunday.

Liverpool: Cavalieri, Degen, Agger, Carragher, Insua, Kuyt, Babel, Lucas, Plessis, Ngog, Nemeth.

Subs: Reina, Gulacsi, Johnson, San Jose, El Zhar, Pacheco, Torres, Riera, Dossena, Kelly, Skrtel, Arbeloa, Mascherano, Spearing.
