Aquilani dreams of Kop glory

Liverpool’s new £18million midfield signing Alberto Aquilani says he can’t wait to get into action for his new club and score a goal in front of the Kop at Anfield.

Aquilani’s career on Merseyside has had to be put on hold as he recovers from an ankle injury.

However the Italian is now making major progress towards making his debut for the Reds, now kicking a ball and running confidently. Some suggest he will make his debut in the Carling Cup fourth round tie away to Arsenal at the end of October.

He says, “When I am back, I will hopefully show that I am a player who can pass the ball well, get forward and score goals,” said the man who will wear the number four shirt.

“I haven’t played football for a long time, so I know it won’t be easy to produce my best straight away – but I will be trying to do that.

“When you are not involved with the team, it is not a good feeling. But it is my ambition to score at the Kop end. I have thought about that a lot during my rehab period.”
