Liverpool will be without both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, it has been confirmed.
Gerrard suffered a groin injury whilst on international duty and Torres has a muscle problem picked up with Spain last weekend.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez confirmed, “Both Steven and Fernando still have some problems. They will need more time and won’t be available this weekend. I think they could be available for next week.”
However, Dirk Kuyt has shaken off a knock picked up whilst playing for Holland and will be fit to start tomorrow.
Benitez now faces a selection headache for tomorrow’s game against the Black Cats with only David Ngog and Andriy Voronin as the club’s recognised strikers.
Sunderland vs Liverpool gets underway at 3pm tomorrow afternoon.
