Torres says Reds are back in title race

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres says Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United puts them firmly back in the race for the Premier League title.

The win at Anfield narrows the gap between the Reds and Alex Ferguson’s men to just four points, with Rafa Benitez’s men sitting six points from league leaders Chelsea.

Torres, who scored the first of the two goals when he struck home at the Kop end on 65minutes, says everyone at the club is delighted with the result.

“I am really happy for the fans and the players and we will enjoy this,” he said.

“We are in the race again. We knew before the game that we had to win and we did it. Now we have a bit of confidence but we have to keep it going on Wednesday in the Carling Cup against Arsenal.

“Then we have to be focused for Fulham. But we feel like a strong team again because we’re working all together like in the past.

“We will see what happens and then look at things at the end.”
