Liverpool fans react to Birmingham draw

As Liverpool continued their frustrating run of results in the 2-2 draw against Birmingham on Monday night, one thing that must be noted is that for at least the second game in a row the determination from the players was there, even if the result wasn’t.

Frustrating times continue at Anfield

As in Wednesday’s game against Lyon in the Champions League, Liverpool are now putting on displays of attacking flare once again. What is lacking is the final touch up front to be converting more of the chances that are being created.

So what did the fans make of Monday night’s game? A solid performance and unlucky not to come out victorious? Or are there still problems that need to be fixed? What does one win in eight mean to our season? [Discuss]

Here’s a selection of reactions from some supporters in the This Is Anfield Forums. You can join in the discussion, debate and banter yourself here (it’s free) and see more post-match reaction here.

Kayceé Maybe a disappointing result but it was a fairly good performance, I think we pretty much bossed the game in both halfs and at times Birmingham were just holding on. N’gog, Mach & Johnson were the three players who stood out for me today while I felt Kuyt didn’t play well or have much of an impact in the game at all – Maybe he needs a rest, he does play a lot of games.

tettehsrafalution: I actually thought Lucas had a pretty good game, especially in the first half before Gerrard came on, but he seemed to ease up a bit once Gerrard was marauding around in front of him.

Copelandinho: A point I didn’t really think about earlier is how bad it is for Riera to be injured again. I felt he was giving the team something different in the first half. Albeit a decent performance but you have to remember this was his first match back in a long time. It’s worrying that we may have to depend on Kuyt as the main member of the trio that sit behind Torres.

RedRenzel: Becoming increasingly worried about Skrtel and Insua’s form, I’ve come to expect better of them but lately they’ve looked out of place. I know Aquilani wasn’t fit enough to start, but when he’s fit you really have to question the need for two DM at home against a team like Birmingham.

mypost: Played well until Birmingham scored, then the composure and domination went out the window. Fair enough, we had plenty of possession, but we will have that against them and teams like them. We rarely troubled their keeper, as most shots went miles wide. In the second half, we had more possession and did less with it. Backpassing in midfield, balls delivered into the box with nobody there, and didn’t test Taylor much. The defending for the equaliser was a joke, 2 players in the 6 yard box left unmarked, and Masch(?) outmuscled by Jerome for their other goal following a lazy “pass” from Skrtel.

Rotweiler: Disappointed with a draw obviously, but I thought we played really well and thoroughly deserved a win. It was a travesty that Birmingham got a point, although obviously Ngog’s penalty was dubious (still can’t understand why he didn’t just let Carsley’s slide take his legs out instead of leaping over them, then we’d have none of this ‘cheat’ debate).
