Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia will be at Anfield on Boxing Day to attend the evening kick-off with Wolves.
He is bidding to acquire a 50% stake in the club, according to Click Liverpool news.
Prince Faisal was last at Anfield in the 6-1 win over Hull City back in September as a guest of George Gillett’s, a move which sparked a huge amount of speculation that he was about to buy-out the Liverpool co-owner. Gillett though denied such claims and insisted discussions were relating to other business but not investment in the club.
At the start of October, a spokesperson for Faisal’s F6 investment company said “Any possible investment would be several months away. The agreement signed leaves the door open for it, but that was certainly not the focus of it.” Having earlier told “His Highness’s shareholding could go from anything from nought to 100%.”
Prince Faisal and Gillett are understood to have signed an agreement concerning the establishment of youth academies in the Middle East and north Africa in early October, when Gillett flew to the Middle East. Much speculation at the time involved talks also relating to Faisal investing in the club but these were denied amid concerns surrounding the club’s debt levels and the relationship between Gillett and co-owner Tom Hicks.
