Match Preview: Birmingham (a)

Sports - September 22, 2007

Liverpool travel to St. Andrews to face Birmingham on Sunday looking to keep their top four aspirations alive.

After the midweek defeat to Benfica in the Europa League Liverpool will be hoping to get back to winning ways domestically after an impressive 3-0 win over Sunderland last time out.

Alex McLeich’s side drew 1-1 with Arsenal last time out and have enjoyed a very successful season back in the top flight. They held the Reds to a 2-2 draw at Anfield back in November.

It was the same scoreline the last time the two sides met at St. Andrews in April 2008.

Rafa Benitez will have Maxi Rodriguez back after the Argentinian missed the Benfica match. That means Benitez may opt to drop Steven Gerrard back into midfield and play Dirk Kuyt alongside Fernando Torres.

Benitez though is without Fabio Aurelio, Martin Skrtel, Martin Kelly and sicknote Alberto Aquilani.

Odds Birmingham 4-1 Liverpool 5-6 Draw 11-4
