Liverpool have today confirmed the signing of Milan Jovanovic on a free transfer from Standard Liege on a three year contract.
The Serbian international striker moves on a Bosman transfer after his contract in Beligium ran out.
On his arrival at Melwood today, Jovanovic told the club’s official web site, “It is an honour for me to sign for one of the biggest clubs in football.
“I cannot wait to start working with the manager and I’m looking forward to joining up with my new teammates on our Swiss training camp.”
Jovanovic spent four years at Liege, scoring 52 times in 116 league appearances, and scored Serbia’s goal in their 1-0 win over Germany at the World Cup.
Jovanovic is capable of playing up front or on the left wing. He was signed by former manager Rafa Benitez, presumably to provide much-needed cover for Fernando Torres. A squad number is yet to be confirmed.
Welcome to Liverpool, Milan.
