The agent of Danish international midfielder Christian Poulsen expects the player to complete his £4million move to Liverpool next week.

Poulsen is being lined up as Javier Mascherano’s replacement, with the Argetine expected to sign for Inter Milan shortly.

Hodgson hopes to have 30-year-old Poulsen in the squad and available for Liverpool’s first Premier League game of the season, against Arsenal on August 15th.

Poulsen’s agent, Jorn Bonnesen, told Ekstra Bladet, “It won’t take more than a week before this is sorted out. It might be already in the beginning of next week. Christian Poulsen is Roy’s man.

“He will be playing as defensive midfielder at Liverpool. I returned home with a good and positive impression.”
