PSV Eindhoven have confirmed Liverpool’s interest in Swedish forward Ola Toivonen.
A spokesman for the Dutch club said “Liverpool have been in contact with us and they know what we think. But there has been nothing in the last two or three days.”
Toivonen, 24, has been in impressive form of late, scoring five goals in PSV’s opening three fixtures and also for Sweden against Scotland.
Reds boss Roy Hodgson is keen to bolster his attacking options and Toivonen has been watched on several occasions, including this weekend when Kenny Dalglish was in attendance as PSV beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1. Toivonen impressed with his all around play and was a constant aerial threat.
BBC Sport report Liverpool are unwilling to pay more than £10m for the forward.
