Frank Rijkaard has not been approached by Liverpool about replacing Roy Hodgson as manager, his agent has announced.
With growing pressure on Hodgson after a disasterous start to his career at Anfield since taking over from Rafa Benitez in the summer, the internet as been abound with rumours linking Rijkaard with an imminent arrival at the club.
Some have suggested Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres did not travel to Italy for tonight’s Europa League game against Napoli to meek Rijkaard. Some rumours have said Hodgson will resign after tonight’s game (6pm kick-off).
But Rijkaard’s agent, Perry Overeem, says there has been no contact from the Reds and the former Barcelona boss is still in Turkey after leaving Galatasaray earlier this week.
“We have not been approached by Liverpool,” Overeem told Sky Sports News.
“Frank’s not thinking about any job at the moment – he wants to put what’s happened in Turkey behind him.
“Whenever we are approached, if we are approached, we will deal with that then but it’s not helpful to get into rumours at this stage.”
Other names being linked to Hodgson’s job are Manuel Pellegrini, Kenny Dalglish and Martin O’Neil.
