Reds on target on international night

A round-up of tonight’s meaningless international friendlies.

Denmark 1-2 England
Both Daniel Agger and Christian Poulsen started for the Danes in the defeat in Copenhagen.

With Poulsen captaining the side, a great headed goal from Agger put the hosts ahead after just seven minutes.

England went on to turn the game around thanks to goals from Darren Bent and Ashley Young.

Glen Johnson, who started for the visitors and has been in a good run of form for Liverpool, set up YOung’s winner.

France 1-0 Brazil
Lucas played the full game for his country after an impressive season in the heart of Liverpool’s midfield. He dissapointingly ended up on the losing side, however, thanks to a 54th minute Karim Benzema goal.

Portgual 1-2 Argentina
Goals from Angel Di Maria and Lionel Messi put misery onto Raul Meireles’ Portgual, with the in-form Reds midfielder playing 79 minutes of the game.

Holland 3-1 Austria
Dirk Kuyt scored a penalty in the 70th minute, before being brought off a few minutes later in a comfortable victory for the Dutch.

There was also a second-half substitute appearance for on-loan Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani in Italy’s 1-1 draw against Germany.

Players now return to Merseyside ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Premier League clash at home to Wigan Athletic. Kick-off is 3pm at Anfield.
