Youth Cup QF date set – chance to see Sterling and co.

The Liverpool Youth Team’s FA Youth Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United has been set for Sunday, 13th March at Anfield with a 12noon kick-off.

The Reds progressed to the last eight of the competition by hammering Southend 9-0 in the previous round. 16-year-old winger Raheem Sterling netted five of the goals that night.

Following last week’s victory, Sterling, along with fellow youngsters Conor Coady, John Flanagan and Jack Robinson flew with the first team squad for the Europa League tie against Sparta Prague on Thursday night.

On Saturday, the Liverpool U-18’s hammered Stoke City U18’s 4-1 thanks to goals from Sterling (2), Coady and Adam Morgan.

Manchester United beat Newcastle Utd’s youth team 1-0 in the same round to progress in the competition.

Liverpool’s youth team have won the FA Youth Cup three times in their history – in 1996, 2006 and 2007. Chelsea are the current holders.
