Liverpool midfielder verges on exit

Alberto Aquilani is set to complete a season-long loan switch to AC Milan today, a deal that could turn permanent towards the end of the campaign.

The Italian international returned to Liverpool this summer after a season at Juventus, playing his part in pre-season but eventually being seen as surpluss to requirements by Kenny Dalglish.

Aquilani, signed from Roma for £18million, in 2009 joins Milan with a message of gratitude to his professionalism by Reds Director of Football, Damien Comolli.

Comolli said, “I want to pay tribute to the way Alberto has conducted himself during these discussions.

“Throughout the entire process, his only desire has been to play football and he has put this ahead of any other considerations and at personal cost to himself. We wish him well for the season ahead.”

Best of luck, Alberto.
