Injury curse returns for Agger

Liverpool have been dealt a blow by the news defender Daniel Agger could be out for a month with a broken rib.

The Danish international picked up the injury in the early stages of the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

His agent said “It’s the worst possible news. He has broken two ribs, and he must keep still for four weeks. Daniel is way down now and I certainly sympathise with him.

“He will miss the two (international) matches against Cyprus and Portugal and there is a match against Manchester United he also misses. It’s insanely annoying”

Just last week Agger, who had started every League game so far this season, said ” I feel a lot stronger, a lot better, but I still have more to come, hopefully.

“I feel I can give some more, have more to offer, so hopefully I can carry on playing games and that will help me.

“Fitness-wise I am happy right now, but as the season carries on you get more games under your belt and you get stronger, quicker and better.”

October sees Liverpool face Everton and Man United in succession.
