Melwood Today: Rodolfo Borrell’s Reserves

In this morning Melwood Today edition, we hear who made Fabio Capello’s 25 man England squad for their upcoming friendlies and we also take a quick look at the reserve team results, appearances, goals and starlet of the season so far…

Well I don’t know about you but our performance last Saturday almost makes the international break seem almost welcome. Saturday’s goalless draw by newly promoted Swansea City was an afternoon in which Kenny Dalglish described our performance as “unacceptable”, but admitted “the problems that are there are problems that we can solve ourselves.”

Daniel Agger said Liverpool played like “headless chickens” and would have ‘no chance’ of qualifying for the Champions League on the basis of such miserable form.

“When we got the ball we lost it straight away. We were not sharp enough, we did not press well enough. There were so many things that were really disappointing, especially after we played OK last week. Sometimes we looked like headless chickens running around after the ball.”

Meanwhile, Stewart Downing admitted on the official Liverpool website;

“Swansea are a good footballing team and they’ve played well this season, but with no disrespect to them we need to be winning games like that at home if we want to get to where we want to be, so it was a bit disappointing for us not to get the three points.”

Capello’s 25 Man England Squad – No Carroll

reinaSunday night saw England boss Fabio Capello name his 25-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Spain on Saturday, and Sweden three days later at Wembley.

Glen Johnson returns to the England squad while Stewart Downing also makes the squad. However, Aston Villa‘s Gabriel Agbonlahor has also returned to the squad at the expense of Andy Carroll.
