LFC Line-up vs Newcastle: Carroll faces boyhood club

Andy Carroll starts tonight at Anfield against his former club for the first time since his £35million transfer in January as Liverpool take on Newcastle Utd in the final game of 2011.

With Luis Suarez suspended due to his gesture towards Fulham fans last month, Carroll starts up front with another former Newcastle player, Craig Bellamy. Dirk Kuyt is again on the bench.

Left-back Jose Enrique also comes up against his former teammates for the first time since his £6million switch from St James’ Park in the summer.

Jay Spearing returns to the side following his three-match suspension and lines up alongside Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing in Liverpool’s midfield.

Captain Steven Gerrard is on the bench, as is Jamie Carragher.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Adam, Henderson, Spearing, Downing, Carroll, Bellamy.

Subs: Doni, Maxi, Kuyt, Gerrard, Carragher, Shelvey, Kelly.

Kick-off at Anfield is 7.45pm and it’s live on Sky Sports 1.
