Captain Steven Gerrard says he’d love to see Dutch international Wesley Sneijder sign for Liverpool.
Gerrard was a guest on Sky Sports’ Goals On Sunday show, alongside former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister, and was asked about what positions he feels need strengthening.
The Reds skipper discussed some defensive cover and a “number 10” or “wide player” when he was then asked about Sneijder.
“He’s a top player. We’ve seen in major tournaments, he delivers. He’s done it in the Champions League for years.”
“We’ll have to see on his wage demands, I think he gets paid very well and he’ll have all kinds of options I’m sure. But I’d love nothing better than to see him in a red shirt at Liverpool.”
“I think he’d be a fantastic player for Liverpool.”
Gerrard also spoke about Istanbul, his current form, the 2001 season and plenty more.
