Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan.
The fee is reported to be €10m (£8.5m), but could rise depending on performance related bonuses.
Coutinho, 20, is a versatile attacking midfielder capable of playing on either side or central, blessed with quick feet, dribbling skills and an eye for goal. He perfectly fits the profile of player owners FSG are looking for at LFC; young, huge potential and available at the right price.
The player was pictured at Liverpool’s training ground, Melwood, on Tuesday after completing his medical and the deal has been confirmed now a work permit has been approved.
Coutinho will wear the number 10 shirt at Anfield, recently vacated by Joe Cole.
“I’m feeling very happy, it’s a very important step in my career” he told the official LFC website . “I’m expecting to come here and play good football to give my contribution on the pitch.”
Describing his style of play, Coutinho said “I’m a player who likes to make moves and to play along with the attack, passing as well as scoring. I like dribbling and playing near to the box – that is a strength I have.”
