LFC “await serious offer” from Napoli for Pepe Reina

As inevitable as it looked from the signing of Simon Mignolet earlier this summer, Pepe Reina now looks set for a move to Napoli.

Pepe Reina welcomes Mignolet to Liverpool

Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is keen on reuniting with the Spanish goalkeeper, whom he signed for Liverpool in 2005.

The Liverpool Echo report that Liverpool are expecting a serious offer from the Serie A club imminently.

Liverpool are now waiting to discover if Napoli will return with a serious offer for the Spaniard.

Reina had been heavily linked with a move back to Barcelona this summer, but the Catalan giants’ first choice keeper Victory Valdes opted to stay one more year at the Nou Camp.

Reina has been on extended leave this summer after comepting for this country in the FIFA Confederations Cup last month.

He, as well as Luis Suarez, are the two high profile players expected to leave Anfield this summer.

The Echo also report:

Reina was close to Benitez during his time in charge of Liverpool and if he went to Napoli, he would also be reunited with his former goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero.

Reina has spent eight seasons at Liverpool since his move from Villareal, winning the FA Cup and League Cup in that time.

He also won the Premier League Golden Glove for his first three seasons at the club.

Doubts were raised about his future at the club when Mignolet was signed from Sunderland earlier this summer.
