Luis Suarez has issued the following apology to Giorgio Chiellini following his bite on the Italy defender last week:
Suarez posted the apology on his official Twitter account on Monday evening.
The apology is in complete contrast to what Suarez had previously said about the incident, where he claimed that he had lost balance and fallen into Chiellini.
“After the impact … I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent” Suarez had claimed. “At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth.”
Worryingly, reports in the last week had signalled that Barcelona’s interest in signing Suarez was dependent on the player making an apology, which he has now done – perhaps paving the way for a move to the Nou Camp.
Suarez has finally apologised for biting saying it will never happen again. I hear that Barca insisted on apology if transfer is to proceed.
