Daniel Sturridge celebrated his first day back in full training at Liverpool on Sunday, having not played for the club since August due to calf and thigh injuries.

The England forward could make his return to action for the League Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea on Tuesday night. Boss Brendan Rodgers said if not, then he will definitely return to the squad for the Premier League game at home to West Ham next Saturday.

It’s great news for Liverpool who have struggled for goals in Sturridge’s continued absence. Hopefully he can return and provide the finishing touch up front in Rodgers’ new system.

Sturridge said he was a “happy man” after his return to training.

First day of training today. I'm a happy man right now ????????
