LFC Loan Watch: Sheyi Ojo on target for Wolves

18-year-old winger Sheyi Ojo scored his third goal of the season for Wolves in the Midlands derby against Birmingham City on Saturday.

The Liverpool loanee was afforded space off a short corner and curled a beautiful shot through a crowded penalty area into the far bottom corner to give Wolves a 2-0 lead and seal the three points.

Ojo is one of the highest rated youngsters in the Reds’ academy and has earned impressive reviews this season while with Wolves – as he did in a short spell with Wigan at the end of last season.

He’s played 15 times for the Molineaux side this season and last week Jurgen Klopp said how he had gone to watch Wolves play to observe Ojo but he didn’t play. This was presumably last Saturday’s game against Middlesbrough when Ojo came on with six minutes remaining.

That Klopp is already keen to observe the England under-19 international shows how highly he is rated.

While Ojo is enjoying valuable game time, the same can’t be said for all of Liverpool’s 18 players out on loan – Andre Wisdom wasn’t in Norwich‘s squad, Ryan McLaughlin was an unused sub for Aberdeen, Jordan Williams again wasn’t in the Swindon squad, nor was Joe Maguire for Leyton Orient.

Last week Klopp hinted at overhauling Liverpool’s approach to loaning out players.

As ever, we’ll have a full loan watch round-up on Monday.
