Following Liverpool’s heartbreaking FA Cup defeat at West Ham on Tuesday evening, we bring you the best Twitter reaction from during and after the game.
It was a cruel, cruel way for the Reds to exit the cup, with Angelo Ogbonna’s header in the last minute of extra-time knocking them out.
A hugely inexperienced Liverpool side produced a superb performance in east London, though, with the likes of Lucas Leiva and Pedro Chirivella particularly impressive.
Daniel Sturridge‘s brilliant cameo from the bench was also great to see, although less said about the woeful Christian Benteke the better.
Here is how Twitter reacted throughout the evening.
Jurgen Klopp fielded a very weak-looking starting eleven, much to the dismay of many:

Absolutely love Klopp and he will be wonderful at #LFC, but imagine if Rodgers had fielded this XI when league campaign is effectively over.

We're going out.

Not really going for this are we…Lucas and Ilori as CBs. Well, they can't do worse then some have lately

That feeling in your stomach when you read Benteke not Sturridge tells you all anyone needs to know about the difference in their quality

Benteke was once again infuriating at times during the first-half:

Benteke makes other teams' defences look really, really good.
— LFC Fans Corner (@LFCFansCorner) February 9, 2016
Benteke a yard offside. To be kind. So frustrating.
— Jim Boardman (@JimBoardman) February 9, 2016
Once again in a team full of kids Benteke is probably the most disappointing.

Michail Antonio gave West Ham the lead, and it was a soft goal for Liverpool to concede so close to half-time. It wasn’t all negative, though:
Dominate the game. Check.
Miss good chances. Check.
Concede sloppy goal and go behind. Check.
Standard. #LFC

No luck ATM. This is our 40th game. Feels like 400th. Long ass season. #LFC

Could see that goal coming. Defence was bound to crack eventually. Damn

Enjoyed that despite the late goal
Tex, Stewart, Ilori all ?
Get Sturridge on and we have a chance of turning this round! #lfc— DanKennett.bsky.social (@DanKennett) February 9, 2016
Smith should be closer to his man there. Still think that with a bit more composure #LFC will cause problems.

Coutinho levelled the scores with a brilliant free-kick just after the restart:
Coutinho thinks he's Ronaldinho – love it!

A gruelling game looked set for penalties, only for Ogbonna to break Liverpool hearts at the death. There was still much positivity after the game, however, despite obvious disappointment:
We've got Jurgen Klopp, times could be worse, eh?
— LFC Fans Corner (@LFCFansCorner) February 9, 2016
so many positives tonight but you can't help but think a stronger team selection would've won tonight
— TheLiverword (@theliverword) February 9, 2016
Youngsters done well. Time to give them some Premier League experience, Sturridge very good. Should be able to start now.
— DaveOCKOP (@DaveOCKOP) February 9, 2016
Good performance from the youngsters, especially the two central midfielders, and it was great to see Phil and Sturridge back.
— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) February 9, 2016
I think this does at least mean that Liverpool have a free weekend the week before the League Cup final.
— Andrew Beasley (@BassTunedToRed) February 9, 2016
Gutting way to go out, but a wonderful effort from a hugely weakened team. So many positives, but Sturridge looking THAT good the stand out.
— Henry Jackson (@HenryJackson87) February 9, 2016
Brave performance by the team selected!but if you miss so many match winning chances,it will bite you on the backside!Has it did.
— John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) February 9, 2016
#LFC digest: A bitter end. Liverpool's inability to handle set pieces now dangerously worrying. Sturridge looked bright. Lucas phenomenal.

First time we've looked decent in weeks but we still lose.
