Sheyi Ojo returns to full training as Liverpool begin preparations for Southampton clash

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo rejoined first-team training on Monday morning, after recovering from a troubling back injury.

Ojo missed the first three months of the campaign after taking a knock to his back during pre-season, hampering by a setback in his recovery at the end of September.

But having begun outdoor work two weeks ago, Ojo has now joined his Reds team-mates at Melwood for full training.

This comes at a crucial period, as Jurgen Klopp prepares his side for a tough away clash with Southampton on November 19, still missing some of his key players.

However, he was still able to call upon a strong group on Monday, boosted further by the return of young duo Shamal George and Joe Gomez.

Academy goalkeeper George is continuing his recovery from an elbow injury, and joined Klopp’s squad for fitness work, with fellow stoppers Loris Karius, Kamil Grabara and Andy Firth all training between the sticks.

Dejan Lovren, Lucas Leiva, Connor Randall, Alberto Moreno and Kevin Stewart were among those also in training.

James Milner and Emre Can have also been at Melwood throughout the international break, and both took part as Gomez made his return to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly win over Accrington Stanley on Sunday afternoon.

Joel Matip will be available as Klopp begins tactical work ahead of the trip to St. Mary’ Stadium, while Simon Mignolet, Ragnar Klavan, Georginio Wijnaldum, Ovie Ejaria, Sadio Mane and Divock Origi have now all concluded international duty.

England quartet Nathaniel Clyne, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge, Brazil duo Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho and Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic are the only other senior players still out.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn are due for further youth international clashes, with their return set for Wednesday.
