“A class act for Liverpool” – Carragher, Garcia & supporters pay tribute as Lucas Leiva joins Lazio

Lucas Leiva has made a £5 million move to Lazio, ending a 10-year spell with Liverpool that saw him develop a strong relationship with supporters.

The Brazilian joined the Reds from Gremio in 2007, and went on to make 346 appearances in all competitions, winning the club’s Player of the Season award in 2010/11.

Having dropped down the pecking order in recent years, however, Lucas opted to end his time with Liverpool after marking a decade on Merseyside.

After undergoing a medical in Rome on Monday morning, the 30-year-old finalised his £5 million switch to Lazio.

And taking to social media to pay tribute on his exit, Liverpool supporters hailed one of their most loyal players in the Premier League era.
