Watch Trent Alexander-Arnold & Dominic Solanke skills & goals with England U21s

Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominic Solanke are training with the England U21s ahead of this month’s European U21 qualifiers.

The Liverpool trio are all part of Aidy Boothroyd’s squad for their upcoming clashes with Scotland and Andorra as the Young Lions look to book their place in Italy and San Marino in 2019.

Both Gomez and Solanke featured in Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Newcastle United, departing for St George’s Park shortly after along with Alexander-Arnold.

And with Boothroyd overseeing training this week, they were all looking to catch the ex-Watford manager’s eye and earn a place in his starting lineup in Middlesbrough on Friday night.

The youngsters were put to task with a series of one-on-one drills, with Solanke showcasing his strength and finishing ability.

Alexander-Arnold’s approach was more aggressive, but the teenager was still able to embarrass Fikayo Tomori with a deft turn.

Testing goalkeepers Angus Gunn, Dean Henderson and Freddie Woodman from the edge of the penalty area on the move, Solanke was particularly impressive, showcasing his prowess in front of goal.

Gomez is the most likely starter for both games, having been named Boothroyd’s new captain with James Ward-Prowse turning 22 last November.

But on their showing in training, and their clear quality, both Alexander-Arnold and Solanke can consider themselves well within a shout of featuring this month.
