Video: Jurgen Klopp post-match press conference – Liverpool 2-1 Leicester City

Jurgen Klopp praised his side’s “pretty much perfect” performance and the backing of Anfield after Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City.

The Reds fought back after going a goal down early on in Saturday’s last clash of 2017, with Mohamed Salah‘s brace cancelling out Jamie Vardy’s opener.

This latest victory brought Liverpool’s unbeaten run to 15 games in all competitions and 12 in the Premier League, a record in Klopp’s time at the club.

And as his side head into the new year with a firm grip on the top four, Klopp was able to reflect on a job well done.

“You don’t want to be 1-0 down but if you are 1-0 down that early in the game you want to see the reaction I saw tonight,” he told reporters.

“It was the best reaction we showed so far after being 1-0 down. It was fantastic.

“I didn’t see one nervous player or any real reaction in a negative way.

“We kept on going and created and created and created, and played brilliant football.”

Klopp also praised the influence of an improving Anfield atmosphere, the form and fitness of Mohamed Salah and the pressure Virgil van Dijk‘s arrival puts on his players.

“The really good players will always say that the challenge with other players for a position in the team will always help you. That’s how it is,” he said of Liverpool’s new £75 million signing.

Liverpool are next in action on New Year’s Day, when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor, hoping to extend their lead on fifth-placed Tottenham with another three points.
