Curtis Jones signs professional contract with Liverpool

U18 attacker Curtis Jones has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool after starring for the club’s youth sides this term.

After turning 17 recently, Jones made it a week to remember by putting pen to paper on the senior contract.

Managed by Steven Gerrard in the U18 side this term, Jones has been a regular on the scoresheet both in the U18 Premier League and in the UEFA Youth League.

He scored four times in the group stage as the Reds progressed to the knock-outs and Gerrard has highlighted the change in his game which has yielded the rewards.

“It’s very special for Curtis and his family and thoroughly deserved,” the youth side boss told LiverpoolFC.com.

“I’m really pleased and proud of Curtis this season, for his effort and commitment to the team cause and he has added big numbers to his game.

“We will probably see Curtis more with the U23s now, and he has earned that.

“In terms of the day, for him it’s very special. Let’s hope he goes from strength to strength now and he sees this as the beginning.”

Jones has been with Liverpool since U9 level and only debuted for the U18s last term, so a step up to the U23s on a more regular basis would mark a tremendous rise.
