Liverpool due to play Man City second leg 2 days after Merseyside derby

The dates for the Champions League quarter final ties against Man City have been confirmed, providing a huge week in April.

UPDATE: The Merseyside derby has been MOVED to Saturday, April 7th, 12.30pm kick off. Read Klopp’s reaction here.

Liverpool will host City at Anfield on Wednesday, April 4th.

They then play at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby on Sunday, April 8th.

Just two days later, they travel to the Etihad Stadium to play the second leg against City on Tuesday, April 10th.

City also face a derby in between the two games, with their home game against Man City scheduled for the Saturday evening. That means they have 24 hours extra preparation for the return leg.

Had the dates been switched the other way around, with the first leg on the Tuesday and the second leg on the Wednesday it would surely have been more beneficial for both sides.

However, there are suggestions that Liverpool will look to have the derby moved to the Saturday early kick-off. Currently no game is scheduled there.
