Liverpool have confirmed that Simon Mignolet, Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dejan Lovren will return to training on August 5.
The quartet went the entire distance at the World Cup after making the semi-finals with their respective nations.
Lovren and Croatia went to the final itself, while the other three finished just one day earlier as Belgium beat England in the third-place play-off.
They’ll now head off for a three-week break, returning just one week before the new league campaign kicks off.
“They are back as well at August 5, I think, then we have proper week to prepare the season,” Jurgen Klopp said.
While the boss alludes to them having the full week to prepare for the Premier League opener, it has to be considered unlikely that any will feature against West Ham.
Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez will be in a battle for the right-back berth, therefore, while Fabinho might be thrown straight in to fill Henderson’s role.
In the centre of defence, Joel Matip, or perhaps Gomez, will be in line to partner Virgil van Dijk.
Simon Mignolet would be unlikely to play in any case, but with the transfer window closing before the Premier League season starts this year, on August 9, he may well have his future sorted elsewhere before that time.
Elsewhere, Marko Grujic, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will all be heading to USA with the club for the ICC tour, where they’ll meet up with new signing Xherdan Shaqiri.
Roberto Firmino will meet up with the squad when they head to a training camp in France after three matches in the States.
