Ovie Ejaria returns to Liverpool early after terminating Rangers loan

Unsettled Ovie Ejaria has returned to Liverpool after ending his loan spell at Rangers with immediate effect.

The 21-year-old made 28 appearances for Rangers but manager Steven Gerrard admitted earlier this week that he would be holding talks with the midfielder amid reports that he was not enjoying the physical nature of Scottish football.

Gerrard also admitted that Ejaria was a quiet member of the group and would try to discover his thoughts during those talks, which have resulted in an early end to his season-long loan.

A statement from the Ibrox club read: “Rangers and Liverpool have agreed to terminate Ovie Ejaria’s Ibrox loan period. Ovie will be returning to Liverpool immediately.

“The midfield player has not settled in Scotland and wishes to continue his career back with his parent club.

“Rangers thanks him for his commitment and efforts. Everyone at the club wishes him well for his future.

“Rangers also thanks Liverpool for their assistance.”

The Premier League club added: “Liverpool would like to thank Steven Gerrard, his staff and everybody at Rangers for helping the 21-year-old develop and improve during his time at Ibrox – an experience the club believe has been extremely beneficial for his career.”
