Liverpool face Everton in FA Cup Semi-Final

Liverpool will play Everton in the FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley Stadium on April 14th, after the Toffees beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night.

Goals from Nikica Jelavic and David Vaughan (o.g.) secured the victory for David Moyes’ side, in the replay of the FA Cup 6th Round tie, which had ended in 1-1 at Goodison Park last week.

It sees the two Merseyside teams meet in London the day before the anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster.

Elsewhere on Wednesday night Tottenham beat Bolton 2-1 in their re-arranged FA Cup 6th Round tie at White Hart Lane to face Chelsea in the other semi-final at Wembley on April 15th.

The sides last met in the FA Cup back in 2009 when the Blues ran out 1-0 winners at Goodison Park, dumping Rafa Benitez’s men out of the competition in a 4th Round replay thanks to a Dan Gosling goal two minutes from the end of extra time.

The last time they met in the semi-final of the FA Cup was back in 1977, with Liverpool winning 3-0 at Manchester City‘s Maine Road in a replay after a 2-2 draw the first time round.
