George and Tom complete takeover

George Gillett and Tom Hicks’ takeover of Liverpool FC was confirmed on Friday morning in a statement to the stock exchange as shareholders accepted their offer.

The statement read:

“Further to the Offer made on 19 February 2007 by Kop to acquire the entire issued share capital of Liverpool, Kop announces that its acceptance condition has been met and that, as a result, the Offer has become unconditional as to acceptances.

As at 3.00 p.m. (London time) on 8 March 2007, Kop had received valid acceptances in respect of 28,089 Liverpool Shares, representing approximately 80.7 per cent. of Liverpool’s issued share capital to which the Offer relates (being 34,823 Liverpool Shares).”
