Former Liverpool players Djibril Cisse and Bolo Zenden return to Anfield just a few months after both left the club for Marseille in the summer.
Midfielder Zenden left on a free transfer while striker Djibril Cisse cost the French side £6 million as Liverpool managed to recoup less than half of their £14m then record transfer which they had paid Auxerre in 2004.
Team news wise, Rafa Benitez is expected to make changes again, but where exactly isn’t clear. In fact, it could be a rare occasion which will see very few changes to the team which narrowly defeated Wigan on Saturday.
Steve Finnan should return and could replace either Alvaro Arbeloa or John Arne Riise, while match winner Yossi Benayoun could well have earnt himself a starting place and would replace either Riise or Fabio Aurelio. Ryan Babel is another contender for a starting place on the left wing.
Jermaine Pennant is suspended after his two yellow cards in the previous match at Porto two weeks ago.
Andriy Voronin and Peter Crouch will both be hoping for recalls in attack but Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres will be hoping they can both keep their places.
More to follow in the week
