Line-up vs Luton Town

Fernando Torres is rested for today’s FA Cup tie at Kenilworth Road against League One strugglers Luton Town.

The Spaniard’s absence from the squad makes way for Peter Crouch (pictured) and Dirk Kuyt to start up front.

With Steven Gerrard sidelined through injury, Lucas is given a chance partnering Xabi Alonso, who has shaken off a calf problem, in central midfield. Javier Mascherano makes the bench.

Also omitted from the squad is Pepe Reina with Charles Itandje starting in goal for the Reds and David Martin on the bench.

John Arne Riise makes a return to the team with Brazilian Fabio Aurelio out with a hamstring injury.

Liverpool: Itandje, Finnan, Riise, Carragher, Hyypia, Lucas, Alonso, Benayoun, Babel, Crouch, Kuyt. Subs: Martin, Hobbs, Mascherano, El Zhar, Voronin
