Sissoko impresses on Juve debut

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has said he was happy with former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko’s debut for the Italians this weekend.

Sissoko completed his £8.2million move to the Turin outfit this week after struggling to get into the Liverpool first team since the arrival of Argentine midfield ace Javier Mascherano at the club.

The Mali international came on for the final 23 minutes of the 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari in Serie A.

Former Chelsea manager Ranieri said after the game, “I am satisfied because Sissoko won back the ball several times in midfield.

“You can see he is a player who has already won League titles. It was a great game played by two teams who wanted to win, so the joint Man of the Match title goes to the two goalkeepers.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s future Champions League opponents Inter Milan beat Empoli 1-0 at the San Siro. Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieria was sent off for Inter, whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic got the only goal of the game with a penalty on 34 minutes. Inter survived a late scare when Empoli’s Luca Saudati missed a penalty seven minutes from full-time. The victory stretches Inter’s lead at the top of Serie A to 8 points, with second place Roma going down 3-0 at Siena
