Next Up: Arsenal (A)

The Champions League resumes as Liverpool take on Arsenal in the first of what will be three matches against the Gunners in six days.

The first leg sees Rafa Benitez’s men take on Arsene Wenger’s at the Emirate’s Stadium. With both teams having got to European Cup finals in recent years, there’s a lot to play for on Wednesday night.

Both teams enjoyed victories domestically at the weekend, with Arsenal picking up points at Bolton and Liverpool beating Merseyside rivals Everton.

Liverpool are boosted by the return of Javier Mascherano who served his one match ban versus Everton, although that may be extended it would not affect European games.

Both managers will have Saturday’s game in mind, where the two sides meet again in London, with Arsenal still chasing Chelsea and Manchester United for the Premier League title.

The match is live on Sky Sports, 7:45pm kick off.
