Poyet warns off Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Gus Poyet says Spurs will not let Liverpool transfer target Robbie Keane leave White Hart Lane, amid speculation the Reds are lining up a tempting bid for the Republic of Ireland international streiker.

Benitez is thought to want to add Keane to the books at Anfield, as Fernando Torres’ first choice striker partner, but Poyet says Keane is going nowhere.

He says, ‘œWe can’t afford to let Robbie go. We have lost Jermain Defoe and, hopefully Dimitar Berbatov will stay. If we lost Robbie it would be too much.

‘œWe have to keep our best players if we want to achieve something.’

Meanwhile newspaper reports over the weekend suggest that Peter Crouch is set to sign for Portsmouth for £11million.
