Next Up: Chelsea (A)

Eight games into the new Premier League season and Liverpool sit joint top of the table with Chelsea on 20 points, who they face this Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

But for the Reds to take over the Blues at the top spot, they must beat Felipe Scolari’s side at the Bridge, something no team has done since Arsenal in 2004.

Rafael Benitez will be without striker Fernando Torres who is still nursing a hamstring injury picked up on international duty for Spain last week.

There are also doubts surrounding Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Xabi Alonso who all picked up knocks in midweek, but are expected to be okay to face the Premier League leaders.

Both sides come off the back of Champions League games, with Liverpool being held 1-1 at Athletico Madrid in midweek and Chelsea overcoming former Red John Arne Riise’s Roma 1-0 at home.
