Gerrard: ‘We dominated and will win’

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard says the team’s performance against Everton in the FA Cup at Anfield was good enough to win the match and insists if they can pull off a similar performance in the replay, they will continue their FA Cup run.

The two Merseyside teams will meet again on February 4th at Goodison Park. The winner will earn a home tie against Aston Villa or Doncaster in the fifth round of the competition.

And Gerrard, who’s second half goal cancelled out Joleon Lescott’s opener, says he is confident the team can progress.

He said, “If we go and play like Sunday, we’ll beat them. They were worth a point in the league game but we dominated them second time around.

“It’s natural to be disappointed after that because we had the chances. We will just have to be a bit more clinical in front of goal and watch the set-pieces.

“I think we completely dominated the game – their goal was frustrating because we had worked on that.

“Both sides could do without the replay. We have just got to put in the same work-rate at Goodison and if we do we will beat them.

“I’m sure we can go there and win, we’ve done it before and we can do it again.”
