Torres and Keane start at Anfield

Fernando Torres starts his first Premier League game since November this evening, partnering Robbie Keane in the Liverpool attack as they face Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield.

It’s the first of two Merseyside Derbies this week, with the two teams facing each other in the F.A. Cup fourth round at the weekend. The Reds can leapfrog league leaders Manchester United to go two points clear at the top with victory tonight.

Manager Rafael Benitez names a strong attacking line-up with Dirk Kuyt and Albert Riera leading the assault down the wings.

Xabi Alonso makes a welcome return to the team after missing Saturday’s goalless draw at Stoke City, replacing Javier Mascherano in the Reds midfield.

Liverpool: Reina, Carragher, Hyypia, Skrtel, Aurelio, Alonso, Gerrard, Riera, Kuyt, Keane, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Dossena, Arbeloa, Mascherano, Babel, Lucas, Benayoun.

Kick-off at Anfield is 8pm and the game is live on Sky Sports.
