Liverpool’s Champions League opponents this week, Real Madrid continued their impressive form this weekend by thrashing Real Betis 6-1 at the Bernabeau.
The Reds travel to the Spanish capital on Wednesday night for the first leg of their Champions League second round tie against the nine times European Cup winners.
Real edged closer to La Liga leaders Barcelona by thumping Betis emphatically. All six goals came in the first half of play, the goals coming from HiguaÃn, Huntelaar (2), Raul (2) and Sergio Ramos.
Meanwhile, their title rivals Barcelona fell in the Catalan derby to Espanyol, losing 2-1 at the Olympic Stadium.
Real Madrid vs Liverpool kicks off at 7.45pm on Wednesday, 25th February. The return leg, at Anfield, is on Tuesday, 10th March.
