He’s probably the most optimistic person out there at the moment, but Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel says he has his sights set on a European Cup and Premier League double with the Reds this season.
Liverpool lie seven points behind league leaders Manchester United domestically with 12 games to go as they prepare to re-start their Champions League campaign this week at Real Madrid in the second round, first leg.
And Skrtel says he is going to the Spanish capital on Wednesday night with the intention to go on and achieve success in Europe, and at home.
He told the club’s official web site, “It won’t be easy but there are still a lot of games until the end of the season and we will do everything we can to try and win two trophies this season.
“It’s frustrating because we are fighting for first place in the Premier League and we have to try and win every game.
“We have to win every game now and and hope United drop some points.”
