Reds await Euro fate

Liverpool will discover who they will play the quarter-finals of this season’s Champions League at just after 11am this morning.

The draw will be made at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland and after defeating Real Madrid 5-0 in the second round, the Reds will be in the pot along with Manchester Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, Villarreal, Bayern Munich and FC Porto.

English teams can meet each other in this round, so a repeat of last year’s quarter-final draw against Arsenal, or last year’s semi against Chelsea is very possible.

Bookmakers in England have this week reported a high number of punters putting money on the Reds being draw against arch-rivals Manchester Utd, after Rafa Benitez’s men thrashed them 1-4 at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend.

The first legs will be held on 7th and 8th of April, with the return legs just a week later on either the 14th or 15th.

Liverpool have made a plea to UEFA to avoid them playing their second leg clash on April 15th, the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster. It is expected that UEFA will honour this request for respect.

Stay tuned to This Is Anfield this morning and we will bring you news of the draw as it breaks.
