Benitez aims for perfect 6

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has his sights set on getting the maximum 18 points from the remaining six games of the Premier League season.

The Reds start their final assault on the title tonight with the visit of in-form Arsenal to Anfield, and Benitez wants to make sure all three points are secured, keeping up the pressure on league leaders Manchester Utd.

Liverpool will go top tonight with a draw against the Gunners, but victory will send them two points clear of Utd, with Portsmouth visiting Old Trafford tomorrow night.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s 8pm kick-off, Benitez told the club’s official web site, “For us the important thing is to do our job, to prepare properly for every game and look to take three points from each of them.

“If we do that and then still can’t win the league then there’s nothing else we can do. It still depends on United, but we have to keep the pressure on them. If we win tonight then we go back to the top and put them under more pressure for tomorrow night.

“Hopefully the other teams around us are distracted by the Champions League. When you are playing in two massive competitions it can be difficult and so we have to be ready if other teams make a mistake.”
