Reserves move to Wirral

Liverpool Reserves have announced that they will play their Barclays Reserve Premier League home games at Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park from next season.

The Reds give up their home at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington for a ground much closer to home.

The move to the Wirral should allow more local Reds the opportunity to go and see Liverpool’s second-string team play on a regular basis with all kick-offs at 7pm on weekdays.

Newly appointed Reserves boss John McMahon said, “I’m delighted we’ve been able to come to this arrangement. It is a great club with great facilities and I hope we will see some good results for Liverpool reserves.”

Whilst Tranmere Chief Executive Mick Horton welcomes the Reserves to their new home ground, “We are delighted to be able to host Liverpool’s home reserve fixtures next season and look forward to welcoming them to Prenton Park.

“It will be a good opportunity for any Wirral-based Liverpool supporters to come to Prenton Park and watch some of their talented youngsters in action.”
